10 Games To Play As a Couple!

Updated: Jun 17, 2022

Who said that playing games is just for kids? Playful activities are equally important for adults to partake in, especially those in relationships. Research has even found a correlation between play and couple's relationship satisfaction. Partaking in novel and exciting activities is important to keep the spark in your relationship going. So what are some fun games to play as a couple? See our favorites below!

Games That Get You Moving

Charades

For those that have never played charades (unlikely, but hey it happens), the concept is pretty straightforward. One person will mime or act out a word or phrase without speaking or using any verbal hints, and the other person must guess the word or phrase that they are trying to act out. Playing charades with just your partner can help you better understand how your partner thinks.

Escape The Room puts couples in a real-life escape game where they must work together in a race against the clock to solve a series of increasingly challenging puzzles. This is a great game because it involves a lot of collaborating as a couple. For those who don't have Escape The Room locations around them, there are also virtual options.

Twister

Another classic, Twister challenges couples to put their hands and feet at different places on the mat without falling over. Playing Twister is a guaranteed way to laugh together as you fall over each other and realize that you're not as flexible as you used to be, and if you're lucky, you may even steal some kisses when you're close to your partner.

Card/Video Games

Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing is a fun way for you and your partner to design your dream paradise, including your character, home, decorations, and even the landscape itself. Another casual and collaborative game that will help you and your partner work to create something new together.

We're Not Really Strangers is a purpose driven card game and movement all about empowering meaningful connections. The cards and questions will definitely open up some conversations that you haven't had with your partner before.

Overcooked

Overcooked is a fun co-op video game where, working as a team, you and your partner must prepare, cook and serve up a variety of dishes before the baying customers storm out in a huff. It's a great way to get some teamwork going without having to leave the comfort of your couch! For those that have already played Overcooked, there is also a second game (aptly named Overcooked 2) that you can try out.

Double Date Games

Jackbox Games makes a variety of social party games that are perfect for your next double date. Game types vary from a fun and new spin on Pictionary to a murder mystery trivia game. No consoles required, these games are ready to go on any laptop or streaming device.

What Do You Meme

What Do You Meme is a fun party card game in which players propose caption cards as a match to a designated photo (or meme) card. If you're good at coming up with captions on your Instagram posts, then you will likely thrive at this game. Many other variations of this game exist, such as 'Cards Against Humanity', which are also fun alternatives.

Mario Party

Another classic, this time from Nintendo. Mario Part is a party video game in which up to four local players compete in a board game interspersed with minigames. No expertise required as the minigames are very simple and straightforward, which makes it a great game for anyone who is new to video games. It can get pretty wild and is guaranteed to generate some laughs!

The perfect 4 player game, Codename has two teams compete by each having a "spymaster" give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. The objective is to have your partner guess all of your team's words before the other team does. If you enjoy some friendly competition, then this is the game for you.
